2020 CLTAV Annual Conference Held on 15-16 December
The Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne supported the 2020 Victorian Chinese Language Teachers Conference held on 15 – 16 in December, 2020. The theme of the conference was the Teaching of Chinese Language and Culture in a Non-Chinese Environment. Four keynote speakers from the US, UK, China and Australia shared their insights and thoughts on the following topics:
1. Global Competence as a Core Objective of Chinese Language Teaching
2. Culture and Teaching of the Chinese Characters and Chinese Language
3. The Ideas and Practice of Chinese Teaching in the Environment of International Chinese Education
4. Pragmatics: Where Language and Culture Meet
A panel discussion was held where six panelists shared their experience and challenges in their language classrooms. The participants participated in the discussion on six different topics in the breakout session. 132 participants attended this annual event via Zoom.
